The Karen Barnes School of Dance, Malaysia, specializes in preparing students for a career in dance. It prides itself on nurturing each student to their full potential.
Karen Barnes FNATD (UK) trained under her mother June Keating – Barnes, Principal of the Keating School of Dance & Singing in Macclesfield, England - a large school with an outstanding reputation. Karen appeared on the stage at the age of 12 and was a qualified dance teacher by the time she was 16. She performed 11 years internationally before turning to full-time choreography in 1989. She has been Guest Teacher at many reputable establishments both in Malaysia and the UK.
The Karen Barnes School of Dance opened its doors in 1993 in Petaling Jaya, Malaysia, with a view to passing on the expertise garnered during Karen’s career thus far.
The school’s home is a detached bungalow with a purpose-built dance studio and drama studio. There is a changing room and a bathroom for students’ use. Shower facilities are also available. Parents are welcome to wait in the comfortable lounge equipped with a flat panel TV. Staff and students enjoy specially-catered snacks and meals in the kitchen.
