“My core training in life has been dance. I completed my A-Levels but never went to University as I wanted to dance professionally and knew the life span of a dancer is limited. The values. work ethic and drive that have been instilled in me since being a child with Karen Barnes is what has enabled me to work in the different industries and roles throughout my career. Choosing dance at such a young age didn’t stop me from getting the jobs I wanted, and it also didn’t stop me from doing well academically at school. Dance training makes you diligent, resourceful, self-motivated, and develops a high attention to detail. But most importantly, it opens the right hemisphere of your brain – your creative and intuitive mind whose importance has been neglected until recent years. It is what allows us to look at the bigger picture, connects us to our body and inner wisdom, create innovative strategies and contributes to our emotional intelligence – the ability to understand ourselves and be empathetic towards others. In the world that we currently live in, this is probably the most important personal attributes a human can have”.

Testimonial Karen

Throughout my professional career as a dancer I have realised how important it is to have a strong foundation of technique, I am very lucky to have been given that at Karen Barnes Dance. I always like to remember where I started my training and all the experiences and adventures it has given me so far.

I would like to give a massive thank you to Ms.Barnes for giving me the foundation, along with the guidance and training I needed to get this far… Without the discipline, I would not be the dancer I am today.
